A Statement of Beliefs for High Mill Church of the Resurrection

Printer Friendly Version
  1. Inspiration of Scriptures: We believe in the Holy Scriptures as the infallible, inspired Word of God. (II Peter 1:21, II Tim. 3:16) Holy Trinity: We believe that there is one God (Deut. 6:4). He has revealed Himself not only as the Father of all creation but also as the only begotten son, Jesus Christ (Col 1:15, John 1:1), and that He continues to reveal Himself through the Holy Spirit (John 15:26; Acts 5:3-4). These three persons are separate in position and authority, but one in substance and purpose (Mt. 3:16, 19; 28; I John 5:7), which the Bible called the Godhead (Col. 2:9).
  2. Virgin Birth and Deity of Jesus: We believe that Jesus was born when the fullness of time was come (Gal 4:4), born of a virgin, conceived of the Holy Spirit, very God and very man (Isa. 7:14, Luke 1:3)
  3. Resurrection of Christ: We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus, that He arose from the dead on the third day, triumphant over Satan, hell and death, appeared to more than 500 people as a testimony to this event. (Mt. 28; Luke 24; John 20& John 21)
  4. Water Baptism: We believe in water baptism in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Mt. 28:19) as a sign to the world of the new believer’s consecrated life to God. It symbolizes the dying to one’s sins and rising in the newness of life (Mt. 3:15; Rom 6: 3-6; Col 2:11-12; I Peter 3:21)
  5. Communion: We believe in the Lord’s supper or memorial to be shared with all believers ( I Cor. 11:23-32; Luke 22:17-20) Like baptism, this is an example Christ set for His church to follow and observe, but will not save one from sin.
  6. Gifts of the Holy Spirit: We believe in the work and power of the Holy Spirit in the church today, as set forth in the book of Acts and I Corinthians. We believe that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb. 13:8, Mal 3:6). We believe all gifts of the Spirit and their operation as set forth in I Cor. 12-14. First and foremost though, we believe that the gifts operate in love (I Cor. 13:1-13).
  7. Second Coming of Christ: We believe that Jesus is presently seated at the right hand of the Father continually making intercession for us (Heb. 7:24-25; 8:1; 9:24), and that He is personally coming again to receive His own unto Himself where we will be forever with the Lord (John 14:1-3 I Cor. 15:51-58; I Thess. 4:17-18).
  8. Holy, Separated Life: We believe in a life of personal holiness, which is evidence of a Spirit-filled life in reverence to God as an expression of Christian faith and as an example to others (I Cor. 6:18-20; II Cor. 6:14-17; 7:1; I Peter 1:15-16).
  9. Judgment Day: (Isaiah 2:12, Mal 4:5; Math. 25:31-32) We believe in a final judgment, when all who have lived will stand before Jesus and be judged according to the “Secrets of our lives” (Rom. 2:16) and the counsels or intents of our hearts (I Cor. 4:5). According to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, all thought, words and actions of our lives will be laid open before God and the light of His word.
  10. Marriage and Family: We believe in the solemnity of marriage as a calling of God and the importance of the Christian family as a structure or unity (Gen 2:20-24; Eph. 5:22-33). We believe the structure and disciple of the Christian family unit is the foundation for the church, as well as the structure of all society.
